Random Shadows

Trying some different techniques with my current illustration gig and was exporting some shadow layers when I thought "Hey, they look pretty interesting on their own!" Cheap thrills eh? :)

Adobe Flash

I've had a few people comment that it's weird that I do my vector work in Flash but generally I find it easier to handle than Illustrator, especially the colouring part. Downsides are that it's not the most accurate software for drawing and it also likes to add anchor points when it feels like it and of course it crashes a helluva lot (what's up with that Adobe? like SERIOUSLY?).
But really, who cares what I/you/they use as a means to an end? As long as the result works, a tool is a tool is a tool right?

Illustration Friday: Burst = "Death by Dumpling"

Apparently there IS a limit to how many dumplings one can ingest ...

Photoshop

The other week I made a double batch of dumplings so we could freeze some for later. We didn't quite have enough containers to fit a whole batch of dumplings so we ended up cooking and eating a little more than a whole batch of dumplings which came out to over 20+ dumplings each! >_<

Embroidery 101

New hobby! A little bit of geeky decoration for Juan's new office (the NERV logo from one of our all time favourite animes: Neon Genesis Evangelion).

So many problems :( Gaps between stitches, hard to keep straight lines and arrrgh the small lettering!!! Gotta start somewhere ...
And ooooh lookie the back hahaha As you can see I started out with proper satin stitch but then got all stingy with the thread and made it up as I went along. Also the random long stitches in the half-leaf? That was me trying unsuccessfully to fill in some gaps at the end ...

This piece was mainly just to learn a bit about basic stitches, I have very different plans for my next embroidery project!

Just because someone (or yourself) tells you that something's not possible, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's true.

For the Illustration Friday topic this week.

Falling Fluffball

I did the linework for this a few weeks ago but when I started colouring it everything seemed to fall apart. So I tried to ignore it for a while but then I felt guilty starting new drawings when this one was left so sad and half-coloured so I gave it another go today.

Sketchbook Pro + Pshop

Not really happy with it as I wanted to render it differently but I'm just not feeling the drawing anymore so this is as far as it's gonna get. :(
