EDM (Day 4) - #2-4

Day 4 and I'm already behind schedule! Will have to do 3 tomorrow to catch up!

EDM #2 - Lamp
Our rental apartment came fully furnished and everything is the cheapest possible denominations from IKEA. Instead of choosing to draw the boring generic shade lamp in our bedroom I chose this monstrosity lurking in our lounge room. The drawing maybe looks alright to outsiders but I know how it looked at this perspective and this definitely ain't it. FAIL.

EDM #3 - Purse
My flatmate gave me this coin purse for my birthday this year and I haven't found an applicable use for it yet ... until now. I tried to do this one a bit faster and looser than the previous couple of challenges. My favourite drawing of this batch.

EDM #4 - Cup
Oh what would those orderly Swedes at IKEA say when they see these disastrous concentrics??? Although this is also from IKEA it didn't come with the flat, it was the first thing I bought when I moved to Melbourne 2 years ago. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cup because its about the size of my face. Who says size doesn't matter?
Black cup on (cheap and wobbly) black table. Oops. I blame the wobbliness of the drawing on the wobbly table ... yes ...

EDM #1 (Day 1) - Shoe

It begins! If I do one a day I should catch up in about ... 6 months lol ... or if I stretch it to 3 every 2 days it will be ... 4 months! Ooh err ...

In a classic 'not too smart' Jo moment, I decided to draw my favourite shoes, which happen to be black, at 9:30 at night in poor lighting conditions. I had planned to draw both but stopped at one because my eyes were killing me. I like it though :D

Illustration Friday - Detach

That Nintendo comp really took up all my time but I'm back on track and feeling the bite of the drawing bug as if it were the size of a tarantula.

I feel this week's topic is extremely appropriate for me as I have FINALLY resigned from my job today to pursue something more creative (which hopefully isn't hard considering I was doing data entry).

I feel exactly like this right now:

Out of Controller

Had to pull an all-nighter on Thursday night to get this ready for submission for Friday!
A trek and a half to get to the submission place (after paying for a $50 A1 print that turned out too dark :( Are you allowed to ask for a free reprint? Can you get free test prints?) in the industrial area of Bayswater (1 hour by train, 30 mins walk from train station ... and that was ONE way ...) but it was all worth it ... if either Juan or I win the $2000 hahaha. And an extra Wii ...

All in all I was pretty happy with it. Turned out looking pretty much like I had envisioned. I think. And it was my first 'proper' illustration that involved stages of process instead of just doodling. Yay me!

Comp details here. Exhibition starts at FAD Gallery on September 10th so check it out if you are in Melbourne (and buy my print!) :D
