Illustration Friday - Primitive

I had big ideas involving Dinosaurs and Fine Dining for this topic but then time slipped away from me this week. So for your perusal, some experiments in gesture drawing using the amazing resources at Pose Maniacs. I tried to do the 30 second sets but it was just too hard so I started on the untimed poses. These probably took about 1 minute each. I experimented with a few different methods of construction ... then I got carried away by a new default brush I discovered in Photoshop that uses dual colours ...

Primitive indeed!

Life Drawing - Class #2

My second life drawing class! Next week we move onto colour ... eep ...

Model was a petite (shorter than me!) woman in her late 30's/early 40's.
We did lots of short 'freeing' exercises but I didn't like any of the results so I'm not going to post them!

1) 10 minutes.
2) Like last week, we spent 10 minutes on each other's drawings. I like the proportions in this one.
3) Can't remember how long this one was but first we covered the paper in charcoal then used the eraser only.

Life Drawing - Class #1

Yesterday I went to my first of five tutored life-drawing class at CAE in Degraves Street (yoohoo! Art school!). The class was 8 students at all diffrent levels of drawing and ages (middle-aged "I've never drawn since high-school" to twenty-something art school attendees) which made me feel less self-conscious about it all. After the first half hour I was really having fun! :D

The model was a slim 20-something female.

Sketches below were in charcoal and white pastel.
1) 30 second poses
2) 2 minutes
3) 10 minutes
4) 10 minutes per drawing (we rotated drawings every 10 minutes ie each drawing was worked on by 5 different people)
5) 35 minutes (!!!)

"Cuando Ries" Pre-Production

Juan and I have been slowly getting our act together and fleshed out a concept for "Cuando Ries" by Sismo (a Colombian band). Basic themes of wandering, adapting and contentment accompanied by lots of action! Trying out a different process, we dived into the animatic without a script since we're dealing with a more abstract, conceptual piece.
